Max "Barry" Woods arrived at Rehab America in Lexington after a stroke that had left him very weak. He needed assistance dressing, walking and making decisions. Barry’s goal was to regain his independence in order to fully enjoy retirement with his wife. After four weeks in our inpatient services, Barry had made exceptional progress. He was so thrilled with his recovery that he decided to continue to receive therapy with our staff. Since, Barry has made substantial strides to reach his goals. Today, he can walk without assistance and even remain standing on the balance board.
“Therapy works! I never thought I would be doing this. I couldn’t even move my leg or walk,” Barry exclaimed.
With this feat completed, Barry’s new goal is to build his own balance board at home!
